Wilvandee Access Program

The NSW Department of Education and Training provides distance education programs for senior students in NSW. It provides eligible students with access to curriculum to meet mandatory requirements and Board of Studies minimum requirements for the award of a Higher School Certificate.

Distance education was traditionally established for students from geographically isolated areas. It now caters for a much broader group of students. NSW Distance education is provided from pre-school to Year 12 for students aged up to 18 years when enrolling.

The Department also provides support for remote schools through the Access Program. The Access Program Links rural and remote schools in five geographical clusters across rural NSW to provide a shared curriculum for Year 11 and 12 students. This effectively allows individual schools to offer broader and more responsive curriculum and enables rural students to complete their secondary education at their local school without having to live away from home.
