Our school leaders
Our school leaders, including our principal, guide teachers and students. They help create a school culture where every child is supported to grow and thrive.
Alison Johnstone, Principal
Having dedicated 34 years to NSW Public Education sector, including 18 years in rural and remote schools, I have gained a deep appreciation for the unique rewards and challenges of teaching in these communities. Observing the achievements of our students is truly a humbling experience. Their resilience, enthusiasm, and determination inspire me constantly. I firmly believe that every teacher should have an outback experience during their career—it offers invaluable insights and strengthens one’s commitment to student outcomes.
Kathy Duncan, Assistant Principal
As Assistant Principal, I am passionate about fostering an environment where both students and staff find joy in learning. By truly understanding and knowing each student, we can tailor support that leads to the best possible outcomes. I am deeply committed to strengthening literacy and numeracy skills, recognising these as essential foundations for lifelong learning. Equally, I value the creative arts as a vital part of education, offering innovative pathways that inspire creativity and critical thinking. Together, we celebrate a holistic approach that empowers every learner to thrive.
Apakuki Gavoka, Head Teacher Secondary Studies
I believe that effective learning starts with clear communication. My educational approach is centred on explicit teaching, providing students with the tools and models they need to succeed. From there, I champion the value of individual practice, which I view as crucial for solidifying skills and building confidence. When I'm not focused on education, you can find me passionately following the Parramatta Eels. At home, my wife and I enjoy our family life, which has been delightfully taken over by our lovely grandkids—our true bosses!
